Location

LaVigne farmhouse is situated on the northern edge of the Dordogne, near Brantôme 'Venice of Perigord'.



        

Marval village

Marval is less than 1.5 km from LaVigne - an easy walk. This marvellous little village has 2 shops - for your quick needs including bread, cheese and wine (and haircuts on Thursday & Saturdays!), a restaurant, post office, a little town square next to the beautiful stone church. Also close by is Ferme du Luc - a lovely little restaurant with several gites - operated by an English family and frequented by guests at LaVigne. A bit further away (5 km) is another village - Abjat-s-Bandiant that has a further two restaurant and a bakery.

The Market Towns

Piegut - located about 10 km from LaVigne has a wonderful weekly market. It has a super marché (which includes petrol) and a variety of shops and restaurants.

St. Mathieu - is 12 km away and gives an attractive alternative for shopping and dining; plus there are two lakes near by with picnicking and dining facilities.

Brantôme / Bourdeilles are two not to be missed towns located approximately half an hours drive away and can easily consume a wonderfully relaxing day (and evening for the restaurants are located on the river and have excellent local cusine).

Perigeux - An ancient Roman City - This city with it wonderful streets of shops and renowned Cathedral plus the joy of lunch from the selection of cafes on the square to the ruin of the Roman amphitheatre; it is a memorable day out.
